Description: Take a gentle walk along the beautiful misnamed Little River. Today it’s easy to revel in the peaceful beauty of its wide, deep blue pools and scenic cascades, but just 100 years ago this area was a logging camp run by commercial lumber companies. As we take our guided walk, we’ll learn how quickly nature can recover when allowed. In addition, we’ll explore the summer cabins of the local wealthy community that sprang up after the loggers left and learn about their importance in the creation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our walk will be peppered with several stops along the way as we learn about the plants, animals, geology and rich human history of this special region.
