Retreats in the Smoky Mountains

Sick of the same old office or school retreats? Bring your next retreat to one of the most inspiring natural settings in the country. At A Walk in the Woods, we design guided retreats in the Smoky Mountains for corporate teams, schools, and wellness groups looking to reconnect, recharge, and learn in nature. Our retreats combine the comfort of Smoky Mountains Wilderness Basecamp—our private off-grid eco-camp just outside Gatlinburg—with the expertise of our award-winning naturalist guides. Whether you’re planning a company retreat, a leadership getaway, or a wellness weekend, we handle the logistics so you can focus on connection and growth.

Corporate Retreats in the Smokies

Trade the meeting room for mountain air. Our corporate retreats in the Smokies help teams build trust, communication, and creativity through shared outdoor experiences. Guided hikes, team-building challenges, and reflective activities create genuine connection—no icebreakers required.

Groups can stay onsite at our Smoky Mountains Wilderness Basecamp, which accommodates up to 28 guests in large six-person tents that sleep two, with cots and thick sleeping pads. Lighting is provided by rechargeable lanterns and string lights powered by rechargeable batteries. The camp offers hearty meals prepared in our eco-kitchen, gravity-fed showers, flush toilets, and communal gathering spaces nestled among the forest.

For larger teams, we partner with nearby hotels and lodges for hybrid lodging and daily guided programming. Add-ons like whitewater rafting, ziplining, or creative workshops such as pottery or outdoor art classes make your retreat even more memorable.

Group Retreats in Gatlinburg & Beyond

Our group retreats in Gatlinburg and the surrounding Smoky Mountain region are ideal for schools, universities, and scout programs. Led by experienced naturalist guides, these trips turn the park into an open-air classroom. Students explore forest ecosystems, mountain culture, and conservation while hiking through some of the park’s most scenic trails.

Programs can be customized for any age group or learning goal—from single-day excursions to multi-day adventures that include camping, meals, and guided instruction. Time spent outdoors helps groups build teamwork, curiosity, and a lifelong respect for nature.

Wellness Retreats in the Smoky Mountains

The Smokies are a natural sanctuary for restoration and renewal. For meditation leaders, facilitators, and wellness groups, Smoky Mountains Wilderness Basecamp provides the perfect off-grid backdrop for mindful retreats. Open-air decks and forest clearings become gathering spaces for activities like journaling, meditation, and movement workshops.

Our team can incorporate guided experiences—such as forest bathing, waterfall hikes, or mindfulness walks—into your itinerary. While we have yoga contacts available, we do not currently have a yoga instructor on staff. We also offer meal planning, transportation, and onsite support to keep your retreat running smoothly. Whether you’re building a wellness weekend or a creative getaway, we’ll help you craft an experience rooted in nature.
