Description: The magnificent Elk is a true reintroduction success story here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Let our expert naturalists take you on a guided driving tour on a breathtaking tour of our ancient mountains. On the way, we’ll stop by the Tennessee/NC divide for photos before we head down into the beautiful Oconaluftee valley. We’ll stop to admire some beautiful pristine water, looking for beaver or otter before we start our search for the magnificent Smoky Mountain Elk. In the fall, we might even have a chance to listen to the sound of their unique bugling. Our North Carolina visit includes a stop at the museum and gift shop before we explore the history of the rugged people who settled these mountains with a visit to the working mountain farm. From there, we’ll stretch our legs on the river walk, learning about the Cherokee as we search for the perfect lunch spot.
