Here, the majority of this section hike never falls below 5,000 feet in elevation and goes to the highest point on the entire Appalachian Trail. Experience this bucket list excursion on this 7 day, once in a lifetime, adventure. On this challenging seven day immersion into thru hiker living, you’ll explore breathtaking high elevations meadows, stand in awe at the sea of blue mountains, feel the cool breeze in a fragrant boreal forest, all while learning about this jewel of the National Park system, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This backpacking trip is perfect for those who want to train for a thru hike of the AT (Appalachian Trail), PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) or other long trail…or who just want to experience a once in a lifetime adventure!
***Please note that, while we will do our best to adhere to a route that primarily gets you on the AT, we sometimes may need to pivot based on shelter availability, bear closures or weather related events that can shut down certain areas of the Park.
