Good loop hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are few and far between. Let us unlock the world of the thru-hike for you. A Walk in the Woods offers several options to help you to do the trails worth exploring.

Fontana Dam to Davenport Gap, Cades Cove to Clingmans Dome, Big Creek to Newfound Gap, Smokemont to Newfound Gap, Laurel Falls Trailhead to the Mt. Collins cut to the Appalachian Trail taking the Sugarland Mountains Trail, Huskey Gap, Elkmont, Alum Cave Bluff Trail to Newfound Gap, Rainbow Falls or Trillium Gap, Greenbrier to Alum – these are just a few trailhead to trailhead hiker shuttle options that A Walk in the Woods routinely handles.
A Walk in the Woods offers RELIABLE, knowledgeable Shuttle Service anywhere in the Park. We will be there when you need us. In the first 15 years of business, we have an on-time rate of over 99.9%.
We have never left a client stranded at a trailhead.  In fact, we are usually the ones that pick up hikers stranded by taxi companies or hotels attempting hiker shuttles.

We are permitted through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We are also members of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce, and our drivers are professionally licensed and insured.

We offer great rates for hiker shuttle service.  We did not have a single rate increase from 1998 when we started into 2008. Our 2014 rates are highly competitive, and some are lower then our 1998 rates!

A Walk in the Woods offers several trailhead to trailhead hiker shuttle options to help your trip. We can:

Meet you at your destination trailhead where you will leave your car, and then drive you to the start of your hike.

Pick you up at a trailhead at a specified time and drop you off back at your car.

Pick you up from your hotel, drop you off at a trailhead, and pick you up and take you back to your hotel when finished.

Transport your car to your destination trailhead.
Pick you up from the airport and take you directly to a trailhead (we can even stop for provisions if needed).
Meet you at a trail and take you back to the airport.
Resupply you during your trip.
Store luggage while you are on the trail.
We also offer safe parking options for those who do not wish to leave their cars at a trailhead overnight.
Since we are backpacking guides in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we do not just play taxi when we shuttle you. We give all of our shuttle customers up to the minute information about the Park, including weather, bear and water alerts and trail conditions. We can obtain your backcountry permit for no extra charge - saving you a trip to Park Headquarters. We offer advice on what to bring and what not to bring. We can also show you how to adjust your pack for a perfect fit, unlock the mystery of those puzzling trekking poles, offer strategies on covering miles pain free, and answer any questions you may have to help make your trip perfect.
We will ALWAYS be at the destination when we say we will! A Walk in the Woods has over 730,000 miles of Incident Free Smoky Mountain Driving Experience.
To get a quote or book a shuttle, use our Shuttle Request Form, email, or call (865) 436-8283.
